Knitcraft Water Garden CAL Week 6

This week you will be building up your buttercup hexagon stash and joining them with the daisies from the previous weeks.

You Will Need Instructions

Yarn Colour References:

Yarn A – Green

Yarn B – Yellow

Yarn C – Denim Blue

Yarn D – Light Blue

Yarn E – White

 

Instructions
For week six we will be making:
• 15 Buttercup blocks (8)

Joining
We have joined our hexagons on the wrong side, slip stitching each block together using light blue
yarn. You can use whatever joining method you prefer
Join the 15 Daisy blocks and the 15 Buttercup blocks

Materials
Knitcraft Cotton Blend in B & D
4mm crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle

Colourway
Buttercup B, B. D, D, D, D, D

 

Abbreviations

ch – chain
slst – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet

Please note
When you are crocheting your buttercup you will be working on the wrong side and will turn it over when you join the second colour.

Buttercup

Method
Using yarn B ch4 and slst to form a loop. (If you prefer you can make a magic circle)
Round 1
Ch1 (does not count as st), 12 dc into the loop. Slst into top of first dc. (12 dc)
Round 2
Continue with yarn B, ch3 (counts as tr) *(YO, insert hook into same st and pull through a loop, bring the loop up to the same height as the ch3, rep a further 2 times), (YO and insert hook into the next st, YO and pull through a loop, bring the loop up to the same height as the ch3, rep a further 2 times), YO and pull yarn through all 13 loops on the hook, ch2, slst into the next st, ch3**

Repeat from * to ** a further 5 times, finish with a slst into the last st and fasten off yarn B.
You have been creating the back of your buttercup, turn work over. (6 puff petals)
Round 3
Join yarn D between any of the petals, working behind the petals *ch3, slst into the next slst**
Repeat from * to ** a further 5 times placing the last slst into the ch3 sp (6 x ch3 sps)
Round 4
Continue with yarn D, ch3 (counts as tr), work 3tr into the first ch3 space. *ch2, work 4tr into next ch3 space**
Repeat from * to ** a further 4 times, ch2 and join with slst to the top of initial ch3. (24 tr)
Round 5
Continue with yarn D, ch3 (counts as tr), work another tr into the same st, work 1tr in the next 2sts and 2tr in the next st. *Ch2, work 2tr into the next tr, 1tr in the next 2sts and 2tr in the next st**
Repeat from * to ** a further 4 times, ch2 and join with a slst to the top of the initial ch3. (36 tr)
Round 6
Continue with yarn D, ch3 (counts as tr), work another tr into the same st, work 1tr in the next 4sts and 2tr in the next st. *Ch2, work 2tr into the next tr, 1tr in the next 4sts and 2tr in the next st**
Repeat from * to ** a further 4 times, ch2 and join with a slst to the top of the initial ch3. (48 tr)
Round 7
Continue with yarn D, ch3 (counts as tr), work 1tr into each of the next 7 sts. *Work 3tr into the ch2 space, work 1tr into each of the next 8sts**
Repeat from * to ** a further 5 times, omitting the last 8tr’s. Join with a slst to the top of the initial ch3. Fasten off yarn D and sew in any loose ends. (66tr)
