How to Make

1. Take the item that you wish to glaze with resin, this can be an artwork, printed material, a photograph, whatever you choose, the important thing is to make sure that it is rigid.

2. The resin shouldn’t run over the edge but perhaps lay down some newspaper or other disposable material first, just in case.

3. Now place the item to be glazed in a level position, raised from the surface, so perhaps on an upturned cup or something similar. If you have a spirit level (maybe on your mobile), now would be a good time to use it, if not, don’t worry it can be done by eye.

4. Now let’s get to the resin. In the pack you will find hardener, resin, measuring cups, stirring sticks, gloves and instructions. Think about the area you wish to cover, a 150 millilitres pack of Glazing Resin will cover around five postcards (an area of 10.5 by 14.8 centimetres). Pour one measure of hardener into the cup and then pour it into the disposable cup, use the stick to scrape out every last drop, now add two measures of resin, you can use the same measuring cup and again make that sure all the resin goes into the coffee cup.

5. Now stir the resin and hardener together, gently and thoroughly, scrape the sides of the coffee cup to make sure it is fully mixed.

6. Now for the fun bit, start to pour the resin onto the item you are glazing, near but not right up to the edges and then in the middle too. You can use the stirring stick to gently tease the resin to the edge.

7. And here’s the magic, unless you really overload it, the resin will run to the edge, stop and form a perfectly rounded, beveled edge.

8. Now put four upturned glasses, one at each corner and put a sheet of card over the top of your work but an inch or so higher, this is to stop dust landing onto the resin as it dries.

9. Now be patient and leave it for 24 hours.

10. Voila! You have your perfectly glazed work.
