How to Make Dream Jars
Grab some glitter and get shimmering with these easy and fun dream jars! Whether you use them to re-enact the BFG in play time, as a night light with an LED tealight or write down a record of your own dreams, they’re the perfect summer make using things you will already have around the house.
1. Open up the jar and paint glitter glue into the inside, covering it with a thick layer. Sprinkle 2 colours of glitter liberally into the glue to add extra sparkle. Set aside overnight to dry.
2. Paint over the glitter with 2 matching tones of acrylic paint. Dab the paint on randomly to get a cloudy effect. The glue underneath may crackle but don’t worry as the light will shine through it beautifully.
3. Remove the inner section of the lid (if possible). Make two holes using a sharp knife, about 1cm in from the edge. Cut a 25cm length of copper wire and insert one end into one hole. Use pliers to bend the end to hold in place. Repeat with the other end to create a handle for your jar.
4. Cut a label from card, draw on a border and give your dream a name. Glue in place on the jar. Add a tealight to the bottom for the perfect sleepy night light.
