How to Make Clay Love Hearts

Valentine’s is no longer just for grown-ups, get the kids involved with these ultra-cute keepsake mementos that are perfect for Mum and Dad, and even the grandparents. Each of the hearts are easily customisable with wooden rubber stamps and can be painted in any colour you like.
1. Roll out the clay to the thickness of a one-pound coin using a rolling pin to ensure it’s nice and level.
2. Cut the hearts using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, or alternatively create a paper template, apply to the clay and use a craft knife to cut them out. Stamp your message using wooden alphabet stamps. Remove excess clay and leave to set hard – to avoid the clay cracking and curling up, place each of the hearts on a wire cooling rack.
3. Once the clay has set, use a fine sandpaper to lightly remove any rough edges.
4. Use pastel coloured craft paint to decorate.
