How to Make Blooming Easter Cupcakes

Topped with simple piped flowers and bunny ears, these Easter cupcakes are a spring floral fantasy! You can add dimension and texture to your piped flowers by striping your decorating bags with coloured icing so your roses are literally blooming with colour!

You Will NeedHow to Make

1. Bake cupcakes. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.

2. Make bunny ears. Print out Bunny Ears Pattern (find by clicking Download PDF on page). Position pattern on cake board; tape down to secure. Cover pattern with wax paper.

Use either Royal icing or Candy Melts to pipe Bunny Ears


Candy Melt Bunny Ears
Melt Candy Melts candy according to package instructions. Prepare parchment bag with melted candy; cut small tip. Pipe ears on wax paper. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.


Royal Icing Bunny Ears

Prepare Royal icing – prepare piping bag with Tip No. 5 pipe bunny ears and leave to dry.


3. Prepare icing. Prepare icing following recipe instructions. Using colour combinations provided, tint 200g icing each pink, orange and green. Reserve remaining icing white

Prepare two decorating bags with tip 103; stripe one bag with pink and white icing, the other with orange and white icing. Prepare two decorating bags with tip 12, one bag one third full with pink icing, the other one third full with orange icing (this is to pipe the base of the roses.) Prepare third decorating bag with tip 352; fill with green icing.

Combine Leaf Green and Golden Yellow colours to get green colour shown.


4. Decorate cupcakes. Using decorating bags with tip 103; alternate piping pink and orange sweet peas around outside edge of each cupcake

Using flower nail and decorating bags with tip 103, pipe pink or orange 5-petal roses; place one in centre of each cupcake. Alternate piping pink and orange 3-petal roses. Position roses on cupcakes, forming circle around centre rose.

Using decorating bag with green icing and tip 352, pipe leaves to fill gaps next to roses.

Using angled spatula, gently remove ears from wax paper. Insert into top of cupcakes.
