How to Make a Decorative Nameplate
These fillable wooden letters are so on trend at the moment and are being used for a range of occasions, anything from interiors to wedding accessories. The possibilities are endless and you can literally use just about anything to decorate these with.
Time to make : Two hours plus drying time
Suitable for : Beginners
Begin by painting all of your fillable wooden letter using craft acrylic paint. Once your first layer of paint has dried, repeat this process once more.
For this next step, stickers are going to be used like a stencil. Begin by sticking down your stickers to the inside of your fillable wooden letter, you can either stick these down in a random order or create a pattern with them.
Give your spray paint a very good shake, stand at least 30 cm away and then begin to lightly spray over the surface of the inside of your letter. To add a bit more texture to the surface, you could create brush strokes in the spray paint whilst it is still wet using one of your paintbrushes. This effect looks very shabby chic and absolutely stunning once properly dried.
To add an extra touch to your letter, why not try adding a little colour? You don’t need to go overboard with how much colour you use… Just a little bit of colour on the edges of the letter will help to brighten up the look of it, but it also looks quite trendy too! To paint the edges of your letter use a small, fine paintbrush as this will help you to not go over the edge or use too much paint on your brush.
Top Tip!…If there is a certain place you don’t want to get paint on, use masking tape as this creates an excellent barrier!
All that is left to do now is use your Thickers stickers to spell out your name or chosen word!
