How to Make a Clay Napkin Decoration

Go for simple but elegant table decorations with some classic clay napkin ties. Easy to make, just leave them to dry in the air before attaching them to your napkins – if you want to add more detail, you could glaze them with PVA or personalise them with names using porcelain pens.
How to Make a Clay Napkin Decoration
Skill Level: Beginner
Allow: Half an hour, plus drying time
You Will Need
- Air drying clay
- Heart shaped cookie cutters
- Skewer
- Ribbon
- Porcelain pens (optional)
- Napkins
How to Make
- Follow the pack instructions on the clay, and roll out to desired thickness. Cut out hearts using cookie cutter. Use the skewer to poke a hole in the top for the ribbon later.
- If you want to personalise the hearts with initials before they dry, simply trace the name in the clay using the skewer and leave to dry. Alternatively, add the name using a porcelain pen once dry – silver writing looks lovely on white clay.
- Once dry, thread ribbon through the holes and tie around rolled napkins.
