How to Crochet Posie The Panda

Posie the panda is the last character from Amigurumi April. Posie loves to dance and go to festivals. Find out how to make her and more about her designer below.

Meet the designer

Alison Holloway crochet designs has become an outlet for my unstoppable and eclectic creativity. This creativity has been handed down for generations in my family, starting with traditional Buckinghamshire lace makers and being gifted to me by my grandma Ada. Ada taught me to crochet as a young child, starting with fine crochet cotton and traditional doilies. No making it easy for the children!

I left crochet behind for a few years as I studied and indulged in a variety of other crafts, from bead work to felting. I took up crochet again a few years ago and have not stopped since. I soon began to explore design and would begin to make with a hook and yarn and no real plan of what it was going to become, and nothing written down. Over the last two years I have turned this into real life designing, creating, testing and writing up patterns for my creations. The writing up is still the biggest challenge and the crochet itself the most enjoyable part of the process.

Early on in my professional designing career I was lucky enough to gain support from another designer, who helped me to realise my dream of having designs published in magazines. This support from within the creative community has continued, and lead me down the most amazing path, with much more to come. My Designs can currently be seen in Crochet Now and Your Crochet and Knitting magazines and as part of the wonderful team at Wool Couture

When I am not crocheting I can be found drinking tea and eating sushi at my home in Derbyshire.
