How To Crochet an Amigurumi Toadstool House

The second design in our Amigurumi April comes from the amazing Rebecca at @thepigeonsnest. Rebecca makes amazing crochet creations and this time she has designed a lovely amigurumi toadstool house just for you. You Will Need Abbreviations

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

St(s) – stitch(es)

Dc2tog – double crochet two stitches together (decrease)

How To Make

Toadstool Cap

 

Using 3mm hook and the red yarn, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

R3: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next st)  6 times. 18 sts

R4: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 2 sts) 6 times. 24 sts

R5: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 3 sts) 6 times. 30 sts

R6: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 4 sts) 6 times. 36 sts

R7: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 5 sts) 6 times. 42 sts

R8: DC around in each st. 42 sts.

R9: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 6 sts) 6 times. 48 sts.

R10: DC around in each st. 48 sts.

R11: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 7 sts) 6 times. 54 sts.

R12: DC around in each st. 54 sts.

R13: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 8 sts) 6 times. 60 sts

R14: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 9 sts) 6 times. 66 sts

R15: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 10 sts) 6 times. 72 sts

R16 – R19: DC around in each st. 72 sts.

Finish off.

 

Toadstool Spots

 

Using white yarn

 

Large spots (Make 4)

 

Using 3mm hook, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

R3: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next st)  6 times. 18 sts

Finish off leaving a long tail.

 

Small Spots (Make 5)

 

Using 3mm hook, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

Finish off leaving a long tail.

 

Attach to the toadstool cap, using the large needle in a random formation.

 

Toadstool Cap Base

 

Using 3mm hook and the white yarn, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

R3: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next st)  6 times. 18 sts

R4: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 2 sts) 6 times. 24 sts

R5: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 3 sts) 6 times. 30 sts

R6: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 4 sts) 6 times. 36 sts

R7: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 5 sts) 6 times. 42 sts

R8: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 6 sts) 6 times. 48 sts.

Stitch the toadstool cap base to toadstool cap, leaving a small gap. Stuff fully. Stitch closed.

 

Toadstool Trunk

 

Using a 3mm hook and the white yarn, ch 30.

 

R1: Join 30th ch st to the first ch st to create a loop.

R2 – R4: DC 30 sts around

R5: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 4 sts) 6 times. 36 sts

R6 – R9: DC 36 sts around

R10: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 5 sts) 6 times. 42 sts

R11 – R15: DC 42 sts around

R16: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 6 sts) 6 times. 48 sts

R17 – 18: DC 48 around.

Finish off leaving a long tail.

 

Sew narrow end of the trunk onto the toadstool cap base, aiming to get it as central as possible.

 

Toadstool Trunk Base

 

Using 3mm hook and the white yarn, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

R3: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next st)  6 times. 18 sts

R4: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 2 sts) 6 times. 24 sts

R5: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 3 sts) 6 times. 30 sts

R6: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 4 sts) 6 times. 36 sts

R7: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in the next 5 sts) 6 times. 42 sts

R8: (2dc in next st. 1 dc in next 6 sts) 6 times. 48 sts.

Finish off.

 

Stuff the toadstool trunk and the attach the toadstool trunk base, sewing it securely.

 

Chimney

 

Using 3mm hook a the grey yarn, ch 6.

R1: Join the first st to the last with a slst making a loop

R2 – R9: DC 6 around.

 

Chimney cap

 

Using 3mm hook and the grey yarn, make a magic loop

R1 (RS): 6dc into the magic loop. 6sts.

R2: 2dc into each st. 12 sts

R3: DC 12 around

 

Sew chimney cap onto chimney, and then attach both to the toadstool.

 

Create doors and windows from small pieces of felt and attach with needle and thread.
