How to Crochet a Market Bag

Say  no to plastic bags and replace them with this great market bag from @jellybeanjunction. You can make them in lots of different colours and they are the perfect size to keep in your bag in case you do some shopping!

You Will Need Abbreviations
  • tr – Treble Crochet (US Double Crochet)
  • ch – Chain
  • ss – Slip Stitch
  • V – V-Stitch
  • mc – Magic Circle
  • st – Stitch

    • Pattern is written in UK terms.
    • Starting chain ALWAYS counts as a stitch.

  • The body of the bag is made entirely out of offset v-stitches, unless told otherwise you will always be working your stitch into the first tr you reach (the right hand side of the V).

  • You will be working in rounds until you reach the strap section of the pattern.

Special Stitches:

V-Stitch: (treble, chain 1, treble) into the same stitch.

Join yarn in right hand tr of V and then repeat from Row 26.

At the end of Row 26 hold end together and ss across to join strap. Fasten off and weave in ends.
