Using your first colour, make an adjustable loop or a foundation ring, by working a ch4 and a slst into the first ch to join.

Round 1

Continue with the same colour, ch3 (counts as 1tr), 11tr in ring. Join with a slst into the top of ch3 from beginning of round Fasten off (12tr)

Round 2

Join white into the top of any tr, ch4 (counts as 1dtr), work a 2dtr cl in the same st, ch2. *3dtr cl in next st, ch2. Repeat from * 11 times. Join with a slst into the top of the 2dtr cl from the beginning of round Fasten off white (12dtr cl, 12 ch2 spaces)

Round 3

Join your next colour into any ch2 space, ch3 (counts as 1tr), 2tr in the same space.  3tr in the next ch2 space.  Work 3tr, ch3, 3tr in next ch2 space. *3tr in the next 2 ch2 spaces.   3tr, ch3, 3tr in the next ch2 space. Repeat from * twice more. Join with a slst into the top of ch3 from beginning of round. (48tr, 4 ch3 spaces) fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Joining – Make 2 (1 for each side)

You can join the blocks to each other using whichever way suits you, I have joined them RS facing with a simple slst in the back loops

**We are now going to start working in rounds, follow rounds 1-3 for each side of your cover**

Round 1

Using white, join into any corner space, ch1, *dc, ch1 dc in the same corner sp, then work 1dc in each stitch, until the next corner* repeat from* a further 3 more times.  Join with slst to beg ch1 Fasten off white.

Round 2

Using turquoise, join into dc before any corner sp, ch2 (counts as 1htr), *htr, ch2, htr in the corner sp, then work 1htr in each stitch, until the next corner* repeat from * a further 3 more times, omitting the last htr.  Join with slst to beg ch2 Fasten off Turquoise.

Round 3

Using Pink, join into the htr before any corner sp, ch3 (counts as 1tr) * 3tr into the ch2 sp, work 1tr into each stitch, until the next corner* repeat from * a further 3 more times omitting the last tr.  Join with slst to beg ch3. Fasten off pink.

** You now have two rectangle shaped pieces, with short and long sides**

Joining

Using pink and WS facing join both pieces on the long sides only using a dc through both loops of each piece, starting your first dc in the 2nd tr from Round 3 corner, and placing your last dc in the 2nd tr from Round 3 corner.  Leaving both short sides open.

*** Now insert your hot water bottle into the cover.  We are going to add buttons to the bottom for easy removal of the bottle.

 Top

You should have 32 tr at the top opening of your cover, don’t worry if it is more or less.

Join Pink into the first tr on the right hand side of your cover and work 10 dc into both loops and both sides of your cover, fasten off your yarn.  Skip 12 Tr (this will leave an opening for the top of your hot water bottle.) Flip your cover around and Rejoin your work 10 dc into both loops and both sides of your cover.

**You should now have in total (including both sides) a total of 24 available sts, remove your hot water bottle, from here we will work in rounds again.**

Round 1

Re-join pink in the first tr after the join on the right hand side, ch1, dc in the same space, work 1 dc in each stitch around, join with a slst to the beg ch1. (24dc)

Round 2

Ch1, work 2dc in each st around, join with a slst to the beg dc  (48dc)

Round 3

Ch1, work 1dc into each st around, join with a slt to the beg dc (48dc)

Repeat Round 3 until the spout of your hot water bottle is just about covered

**Fix your buttons evenly as in the picture below.
