Using the photo as a guide, embroider the face using 4 strands of embroidery floss and an embroidery needle. Embroider the face on the side opposite the color changes. Make a French knot for the nose and backstitch for the eyes and mouth. The nose is at the center of rnd 10, the mouth is at rnd 11, and the eyes are 4 sts wide and are placed on rnds 9-11. After you finish the face, take your needle and pull gentle on the mouth to create some slack for the smile.

ASSEMBLING

Attaching legs:

Place a pin at rnd 32, centered with the face. You’ll be attaching the legs to both sides of the pin on rnds 32 and 31. See the dots on the image above for placement.

Attaching arms:

I’ve attached my arms so that they have a full range of motion. Feel free to attach the arms any way you’d like!

Step 1: Using your tapestry needle, close arm by weaving through front loops of each st.

Step 2: Insert your needle into center of arm hole and bring it out of the 2nd to last rnd of arm, pulling tight to close.

Step 3: Insert needle into side of body between rnds 18 and 19.

Step 4: Bring needle out through other side of body, making sure that the placement matches where you inserted your needle. Pull taut.

Step 5: Insert needle back into body, going over 1 st. Make sure your yarn tension is tight enough so that your arm isn’t floppy, but not so tight that it warps the body.

Step 6: Bring needle and yarn back through body to side of arm. Pull taut.

Step 7: Insert needle into arm and through several stitches to secure.

Repeat steps 1-7 for other arm.

Attaching skirt:

Step 1: Insert needle under st between rnds 25 and 26.

Step 2: Insert needle into skirt

Step 3: Insert needle back through same hole from step 1 and out through next hole. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you’ve attached skirt.

Closing and attaching petals:

Step 1: Pinch petal flat

Step 2: Thread tapestry needle with yarn tail and bring through next st.

Step 3: Insert needle through top and bottom stitches

Step 4: Repeat step 3 six more times to close petal.

Step 5: Position petal at bottom of face.

Step 6: Insert needle under st between rnds 16 and 17.

Step 7: Insert needle through next st of petal from front to back.

Step 8: Insert needle through same hole you came out of in step 6 and up through next hole. Repeat steps 7 and 8 five more times.

Step 9: Bring needle up through petal, weaving through several stitches to secure. Cut yarn.

Repeat steps 1-9 for remaining petals. Start attaching next petal in the last hole from previous petal. Use photo as guide for placement.
