Giant Mache Egg Gift Box Idea
An Easter hamper is a eggcellent gift to give and a great way of giving a loved one a selection of goodies! What better way to do this than in an actual egg!
1. For your egg hamper, you will need to prep it ready for decorating by using turquoise acrylic paint. Paint both the inside and outside of the egg and leave to dry. Once this first layer of paint has properly dried, re apply another layer and leave to dry again.
Americana multi surface satin acrylic paint was chosen for this project due to the surface finish it creates. Once the paint has dried, it looks like the surface of an actual egg.
2. Now that you have painted the inside and outside of your egg hamper, you can now decorate it! Start by drawing lots of different sized stars all over the body of the egg as well as the lid. Colour all of these stars in with the marker you are using.
3. Now that you have coloured in all of your stars, you can now add a bit of glitter and sparkle to your egg hamper! You will now need gold glitter, decopauge glue and a paintbrush. Begin by painting over the larger stars you have drawn with the decopauge glue and then sprinkle the glitter on top and then leave to dry. Once this has dried, paint another layer of decopauge glue over the top of your dried glitter.
Decopauge glue is not only great for decopauge paper, it can also be used with a wide range of materials. Decopauge glue is also a sealant, so it is a great product to use with glitter because it seals it in place.
4. Now that you have finished your egg hamper, I would recommend leaving it overnight to completely dry. This will help to ensure that everything is properly glued and secured.
Now your egg is ready to be filled with lots of goodies for Easter!
