Making your own wedding stationery can be one of the best ways of saving a few pennies when it comes to planning your big day, plus you can make something that is truly unique and individual to you that no other couple will have.

These wedding invitations are perfect for a spring/summer outdoor wedding in the countryside and are quick and easy to make, so between you you’ll have them done in no time . . .

How to make

  1. Print/write your wedding invitation details centrally inside the card blanks.
  2. Cut out an oval shape from a piece of scrapbook paper and using spray glue, place over the top of your wedding invitation details to frame the information.
  3. To add a background to the front of your invitation cut a 12 centimetre wide by 16 centimetre high rectangle from your scrapbook paper and attach to the middle of the card.
  4. Choose a contrasting colour of scrapbook paper for the birdcage and cut out using a die cutting machine following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Add the birdcage stencil to the centre of the scrapbook/background paper on the front of your invitation.
  6. Stick your chosen toppers on to the birdcage.
  7. Either hand write or use a letter stencil to add your message, for example wedding, the names of the bride and groom or the date of the big day, then add underneath the birdcage.
