10 Quick Festive Home Decor Ideas

There are so many quick and simple decor hacks and ideas to add the finishing touches to your home this year. We’ve rounded up 10 that include some of our fantastic Christmas product range at Hobbycraft as well as a few quick crafts that will allow you to truly personalise to your own style.

1. Hessian Bunting

Decorate the mantelpiece or side board quickly with merry Christmas hessian bunting. The perfect rustic touch to a modern festive home.

2. Advent Candles

Create a set of 24 candles to burn each day to signify the days of advent. Use a black permanent marker to draw the numbers on at differing heights to add further interest.

3. Bright Mache Houses

Decorate a set of Mache houses using fantastically opaque Pebeo craft acrylics and Posca pens. Decorate to suit your tastes- we love these super bright houses created by Posca artist Ella Johnston.

4. Wooden Bead Wall Hanging

Use wooden beads and macrame yarn to create these on-trend, boho wall hangings – the perfect addition jazz up any wall in a subtly festive manner.

5. Foliage Jars

Fill these sweet milk bottle jars with artificial or fresh foliage with or without water to create some fresh forest vibes in a sideboard of your home. These would also look beautiful placed on a Christmas dinner table. Why not try fresh pine for an extra-festive approach?

6. Personalised Tree Skirt

Add some personality under your tree with a modern tree skirt, complete with colourful tassels, pom poms, and stitch detailing. Read How to Make Chunky Tassel Embellishments to find out how these are made. Then simply attach with thread or a hot glue gun to the Tree Skirt base available online and in store at Hobbycraft.

7. Ceramic Tealight Town

Create an expansive ceramic tealight town in a cosy corner or your home, complete with differently sized bottle brush trees. There’s a massive range of blank ceramics in the Hobbycraft Christmas range this year – perfect left as is for minimal Scandi vibes, or add painted detail with some craft acrylic paints and biodegradable glitter.

8. Needle Felted Trees

These sweet trees are the perfect beginner needle felting project and will look so cute dotted around your home! Simply grab the styrofoam cone bases, some different shades of green and white wool roving, and a few needle felting tools and get underway.

9. Glitter Twig Tree

Forego the traditional fir tree for a glitter twig tree this year – perfect for a small space or a fresh take on a traditional decoration. Add pom pom garlands or string lights to dress the tree base for the festive occasion.

10. Washi Tape LED Tealights

Jazz up your LED tealights with washi tape that matches your chosen festive decor! There are so many different colours and patterns to choose from online and in store at Hobbycraft.
