I love upcycling and giving something that was previously unloved, some care and attention and turning it into something wonderful! It also (dependent on how extravagant your design is!) works out much cheaper than buying an equivalent from the high street, plus it gives you the opportunity to really go for it, and create something wonderful that no-one else is going to have.

How to make

  1. Cut the fabric 40 centimetres deep and long enough to fit around the four sides of the tablecloth.
  2. Double over the patterned fabric, and pin it to the tablecloth so that it’s 20 centimetres deep all the way around. Stitch into place.
  3. Make small bows from ribbon and glue or stitch them in place at 25 centimetre intervals along the edge of the patterned border.
