How to make
So before we start to crochet we have to create 2 ends of each colour, so wind enough of each yarns to have 2 ends to work with. Make sure that there is more for the white frosting!
Top of the Cake and the Same for the bottom (make 2)
Ch 12 +2(turning chain), DC into the 3rd st from the hook to the end
Ch 1 and Dc into every st until the end (repeat once more)
* Sl 1st st and Dc into every st until end
Sl 1st st and Dc into every Dc
Ch 1 and Dc into every Dc (repeat 3 more times) *
Repeat from * to * until 3 st remain
Ch 1 Dc into 2nd St and fasten of.
Square Edge of the Cake (make 1)
Ch 12 +2 (turning chain) and Dc into every st
*Ch 1 and Dc to the end*
Repeat from * to * 17 more times and fasten off.
Colour Section (Make 2)
Light Purple – Ch 22 +2 (turning chain) Dc into 3rd st from the hook to the end
* Ch 1 and Dc into every st until end of row
Ch 1 and Dc into every st until the end of the row. Fasten off this colour and cut
Change to White, pull yarn through last dc, Ch 1 and Dc into every st until the end. Leave white in Action and change to Light Pink*
Repeat from * to * changing the colour; Lime, Red, Turquoise, Yellow
Pick up the White again, Ch 1 and Dc into every st until the end and fasten off.
Bobble Frosting (Make as many or as little as you like, I made 5)
White – Ch 3, Tr into 1st Ch and keeping the Trebles on the hook make 5, to finish pull yarn through all trebles and fasten off!
Steam them slightly with the iron, I wouldn’t worry too much about the ends of the yarns as they will be hidden within the Cake. Just make sure they won’t get in the way too much for you. Also don’t worry about the right side and the wrong side it is personal preference.
Join your seams together making sure that the bottom of the colour section are the same colours. I joined my work together through blanket stitching with the tapestry needle.
Leave the bottom of the cake where the back meets the bottom slice open for you to stuff the stuffing in, Once stuffed you can close up. If there are any ends that are poking through, pull them through with your crochet work and they will be carefully hidden within the cake.
Sew your bobble frosting on to the cake and decorate as you wish, you can even embellish it with sequins, buttons and beads!
Don’t forget you can make multiple of these and in a mixture of colours!
