Make this stunning card for a special friend, using Crafter’s Companion Aquatints in delicate pastels to create a custom background. White detail embossing powder gives a textured resist effect, while glitter dots will add a touch of glam for a truly special finish your recipient will love.

You will need

How to make

1. Place a small amount of the Aquatint watercolour ink (pink, purple and blue) in your tray.

2. Using a dampened 0.5 inch flat brush, create rectangles of colour on a piece of watercolour card. Allow to dry (or dry with your heat tool) before adding each new colour. Overlap the rectangles of colour to create a softly diffused background.

3. Use your brush to flick water droplets onto the watercoloured card – wait a few moments and blot using tissue to remove some of the colour. Dry using your heat tool and dust with an anti-static bag.

4. Stamp the butterfly image and ‘Cherish’ sentiment using Versamark ink, cover with white detail embossing powder and heat to set.

5. Use the pink, purple and blue ink to deepen the colour of the butterfly wings – the white heat embossing will act as a resist.

6. Trim the watercoloured card to measure 14.5 by 13.5 centimetres. Using the corner stamp from the Textures Walls and Corners stamp set and Milled Lavender Distress Ink, stamp in all four corners of the card.

7. Score the A4 Centura Pearl cardstock in half and trim to create a 15.5 by 15 centimetre card base. Trim a 15 by 14.5 centimetre mat of lilac card and 14.5 by 14 centimetre mat of purple card. Layer and assemble using Collall All Purpose glue gel.

8. Complete the card by adding a trail of glitter dots as shown.
