Go all-out for your Halloween party or costume this year and decorate some realistic-looking skulls and bones! We have used bright colours for a more friendly and child-orientated party, or you can glitter them up for a bit of sophistication that will glimmer perfectly in the eery light of a candle…

You Will Need Craft Essentials How to Make

Bright Bones

  1. Protect your work surface by laying down some newspaper or other protective covering.
  2. Pick your paint colours and pop them into a palette or container for ease.
  3. Using a large paintbrush, paint one colour onto your bone or skull. Paint one side first, leave to dry.
  4. Repeat the above for the remaining side.
  5. Finish off with another coat of paint if needed, then paint up some more in different colours!

Glitter Bones

  1. Protect your work surface by laying down some newspaper or other protective covering.
  2. Cover one section of your bone or skull in a layer of PVA glue. While it’s still wet, sprinkle some glitter over the area you have just glued.
  3. Shake off any excess onto the paper below, then leave somewhere to dry. In the meantime, fold the paper in half and use the crease to pour any excess glitter back into the pot.
  4. Continue gluing and glittering until your whole piece is covered. Leave to dry.
  5. To stop the glitter coming off to the touch, you can paint a thin layer of PVA glue over the top or use hairspray to fix the glitter in place.
