How To Make

This top is worked in two pieces, the front and back, which are identical. You will then sew it up & work a trim around the neck and arm holes.

Instructions for the 3 sizes are given as follows: 8-10/12-14/16-18

Ch2 counts as first treble in this pattern. (In most patterns ch3 counts as first treble, but I prefer ch2 as it bulges out less).

Front:

Using a 7mm hook and pink Bubblegum yarn, 59/65/71 ch.

Row 1: 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, dc to end, turn. (58/64/70sts).

Row 2: 2ch, (counts as first htr), 57/63/69 htr. Turn.  (58/64/70sts)

Rows 3, 4 & 5: rep row 2.

Change to 8mm hook and work as follows:

Row 6: 2ch, miss 2sts, 3tr into sp between 2nd & 3rd st, (forms first cluster), (see fig 1) *miss 3 sts, work 1 cluster into space between sts, rep from * to last 2sts, work 1tr into sp between last 2sts. Before you turn your work, place a stitch marker somewhere on this side to denote right side of work. Turn. (Should have 19/21/23 full clusters).

Figure 1

Row 7: 2ch, 1tr into sp between tr & cluster,  *1 cluster into nxt cluster sp, (see fig 2) rep from *to end, work 2tr into sp between cluster and tr. Turn (Should have 18/20/22 full clusters)

Figure 2

Row 8: 2ch, 1 cluster into sp between 2tr & cluster, *1 cluster into nxt cluster sp, rep from *to end, 1tr into sp between last 2 tr. Turn. (Should have 19/21/23 full clusters)

Rows 7 & 8 form pattern.

Rep pattern a further 7/7/8 times.

Rep row 7. Fo. (Should have 18/18/20 rows of clusters).

Join green Apple yarn to top of last tr.

Rep row 8.

Rep pattern 6 times.

Rep row 7. (Should have 32/32/34 rows of clusters).
