Every wedding reception needs a table or area for guests to leave their wedding cards for the Bride and Groom. I wanted to create something a little different and fun and decided to make a card suitcase.

Our guests left lots of lovely cards for us, when it came to collecting them it was very easy, I just closed the suitcase and off I went!

How to make

1. I searched high and low in charity shops and on ebay for an old turquoise suitcase. Finally I found one!

2. Once I had the suitcase I played around with ideas on how to decorate it. We had recently had our engagement photo shoot so I wanted to incorporate our photographs from there. I printed them on A4 white paper and using blue tack stuck them to the top of the inside of the suitcase as a back drop.

3. To let everyone know that this was the guests table to leave their wedding cards I wanted to use the word ‘cards’. I found some wooden lettering in the type I was thinking of on the internet. Once the letters had arrived by post I used blue ribbon to to make the bunting. Using some white pegs I personalised the letters further with small artificial flowers which I attached to the edge at the top of the suitcase.

4. For the base of the suitcase I used some lace which I had dyed turquoise using fabric dye, to match the rest of my decorations.

5. I then visited charity shops and collected the fabric dollies.

6. To decorate the handle of the suitcase I used some white ribbon and a paper tag that I created when making my wedding invitations.

7. I decorated the table with some homemade triangle bunting using the same fabric as my fabric garland and fabric garland photobooth bunting. The bunting sat on the edge of the rounded table.

8. Using brown cardboard letters, blue tissue paper and glitter I decoupaged them to finish off the table.
