Create a simple stunningly delicate snowflake card using the Cricut Explore or Explore Air and its online software, Design Space. Create an insert and add your own personalised greeting writing with any font stored on your system as well as Cricut fonts.

With a variety of pens colours available, the whole project can be coordinated.
This project also makes a great invitation for a Christmas or New Year’s party, or a place name for the festive table or Winter wedding since it can be created any size.

How to Make

1. Connect the Cricut Explore or Explore Air to the PC/laptop/Mac, log on to your Design Space account and create a new project. Click ‘Insert image’ and search for ‘Christmas Cards’. Locate and select the ‘Snowflake card’ (#M42C7F).

NOTE: The envelope and card are grouped together which makes resizing easier; keep them grouped at this stage.

2. Resize the images as required by first highlighting the image and then dragging the corner point. The size appears in a black text box as the image is altered. For this project, the grouped image was resized to be 12.13 by 6.66 inches.

3. Once resized, ungroup the images and drag the insert panel to one side. Copy and paste this image twice. Change the colour of one insert so that it will load on to a different mat: this will be the address panel for the envelope.

4. ‘Add text’ and type ‘Wishing you a very Happy Christmas’. From the edit window, select ‘Has writing style’ and then select a font; the project used ‘Simple Celebrations’ font. Centre the text and resize to fit the insert panel.

6. Score and cut the card base from snowflake design cardstock and the envelope from pale blue cardstock, inserting the scoring stylus into the accessories port of the dual Cut Smart system when prompted and selecting ‘Cardstock’ on the Smart Dial.

7. Cut the inserts from pale blue cardstock and white cardstock, inserting the pen into the accessories port when prompted.

Top Tip…

8. Carefully remove the cut images from the cutting mat using the spatula; this will minimise the damage to the image and mat: save the snowflakes to use as embellishments.

9. Fold the envelope along the scored lines and glue it together.

Top Tip…

10. Emboss the envelope using the squiggles embossing folder, the Cuttlebug and appropriate cutting plates. Glue the white insert to the front of the envelope.

11. Fold the card along the scored line. Glue the blank pale blue insert to the inside front of the card. Glue the written pale blue insert to the inside back of the card. Embellish with the saved snowflakes.
