If you’ve never used Boodles before this is a great starter project, you’ll have one made up in no time thanks to the super chunky yarn, which is made from fabric off cuts from when fashion textiles are manufactured. These beautiful place mats would look great on anyone’s dining table. . .

Boodles Round Place Mat

You will need -

x1 spool of Boodles

10 millimetre Bamboodle (crochet hook)

Abbreviations used -

  • ch = chain stitch
  • slst = slip stitch
  • dc = double crochet
  • Work in rounds instead of turning your work after each row

How to make -

Start with an adjustable ring, ch1.

Round 1: 6dcs into the ring then close with a slst into the 1st ch

Round 2: ch1, 2dc into every dc then join with a slst (12dc)

Round 3: ch1, *2dc into the next dc, 1dc* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst into the ch st (18dcs)

Round 4: ch1, *2dc into the next dc the 2dcs* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst into the ch st (24dcs)

Round 5: ch1, *2dc into the next dc the 3dcs* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst into the ch st (30 dcs)

Round 6: ch1, *2dc into the next dc then 4dcs* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst into the ch st (36dcs)

Round 7: ch1, *2dc into the next dc then 5dcs* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst in the ch st (42dcs)

Round 8: ch1, *2dc into the next dc the 6dcs* repeat from * to * for the whole round, then close with a slst into the ch st (48dcs)

Round 9: 1 slst into each dc – always work into the back loops, join with a slst.

Round 10: *ch3, 1slst into the 1st dc, skip 1dc, 1dc into the next dc (into the back loop)* repeat from * to * until the round is complete.

Finish, cut and weave in ends
